"Excellent location"
We stayed at the Eliza Lodge for a weekend jolly during the rugby international season. We booked way in advance which is a must at this time of year. The location is perfect for the Temple Bar area and the views from the rooms that we were allocated were brilliant. We did not actually spend much time in the hotel itself but we had everything we needed when we were there. The rooms were a decent size and clean. The ensuites were also perfectly fine (no bath). We actually dined in the restaurant which was fab and the breakfast was also delicious if not a little slow but all credit to the girls they were rushed off their feet. I would definately recommend this guesthouse for anyone wanting good value for money and a central location.
"Great Hotel!"
After reading some bad reviews of the Eliza Lodge, I felt I needed to give my two cents. I do a lot of international travel, and domestic travel in the US. I can honestly say how pleasantly suprised I was when we arrived at the Eliza Lodge. It has great views of the Liffey, and I spend a few minutes each day just sitting at our bay window watching the movement of Dublin. The room itself was well appointed and the whirpool bath was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the room was plently big for three adult males. Yes, this is not the Ritz. However, the entire reason of travelling is to experience the culture of the country, not complain because it isnt like the US. The front desk staff was very helpful, even routing my bus travel and making a few phone calls to check on things for me. As far as the noise goes, if the windows were closed it wasnt that bad. If you come to Dublin to sit in your hotel and watch TV, don't stay at the Eliza Lodge. However, if you came to experience Dublin, Temple Bar and the Liffey at a price more reasonable than other hotels in the area, make it the Eliza Lodge.
"Excellent hotel in Dublin"
Was so pleasantly pleased by my stay at Eliza Lodge that whenever I return to Dublin I plan to stay there again. The rooms were clean, cleaner than most motels I have stayed in in the US. The room was a good size, especially for a European room. We had 2 twin beds and they were clean and comfortable, even the bedspreads, which I usually pull off first thing in a hotel, were clean. The bathroom was well-equipped with soap, shampoo, lotion, and lots of towels. The water pressure was better than in my own house. The staff was wonderful. They held our bags even after we checked out and were helpful with airport transportation questions, other Dublin directions, and very friendly. The adjacent hotel offers a wonderful breakfast, with actual variety, not just bread and coffee and stale donuts, but real food, freshly prepared and very tasty. The hotel is located in Temple Bar, known for its touristy feel and noise, but our hotel was quiet. It is on the corner, facing the river, which helped a lot. And true to their website description, each room has a lovely river view. The location was perfect for walking to most places we wanted to visit, even in cold or windy weather. I have stayed in numerous hotels and motels throughout the US and Europe and this was my favorite hotel. I am used to smaller hotel rooms in Europe, even as an American used to our "bigger is better" philosophy, but our room, as mentioned, had lots of storage space, lots of amenities, and was comfortable, clean, and decent-sized. I highly recommend this hotel.
