HOTEL INFORMATION
An Art Deco Slice of the Big Apple...

New York’s Edison Hotel is counted amongst the architectural landmarks of this vibrant city. Built in 1931, this historic building is done in the grand old style of Art Deco, the same as Radio City Music Hall. Overlooking Broadway, a short walk away from Times Square and ideally situated for business travelers, Edison Hotel puts you right in the heart of one of the most exciting and interesting cities in the world.

Rich in history, back in the 1950s, the Edison Theatre used to be located in the Edison Hotel. Capable of seating up to 500, the theatre was converted into the Hotel’s Ballroom till the 1970s, when it re-opened as a theatre. The theatre was finally closed after the death of leaseholder and producer, Norman Kean in 1991. You can still visit this famous location and enjoy the beauty of its art deco interiors.

We took our family on a vacation here. The Hotel pictures are NOTHING like the rooms and for the price we paid it was a huge dissapointment. We found the front desk staff very RUDE and the cafe wasn't much better. Coffee should be at least offered to your guest. We had reservations for two seperate rooms. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. We have traveled all over the US and Europe and this by far was the most decieving, rude dirty Hotel by far!!

Amazing central convenient location
We saw at least one bad review just before we set off , so we were prepared for the worst !!!!! But it was great - the room size , 14th. floor , was quite generous & very clean & good service daily , not new furniture but good condition , solid wood , never cheap! The bathroom was very good , comfortable size , bath , shower over , basin & toilet. ( The shower settings were difficult to balance !!) There were no tea / coffee making facilities , a shame when there's no direct facility in the hotel BUT the adjacent restaurant is very comprehensive & cheap . The next door is a 24-hour deli with coffee etc. which you can take up to your room easily , or eat maybe breakfast at the deli & go straight out.The location is amazing , literally 100 paces from Times Square itself !! The lobby is art-deco & featured in some guide books . The staff were most helpful. The price is good - we booked thro' gtahotels.com & think we got a good deal. We arrived at Newark & took the Newark Airport Liberty Express bus from outside the Terminal - 15 bucks return ,very fast one stop into NYC- 35-40 mins. & includes a discount on Grayline Hop-on-Hop-Off if you want to use it.A great holiday !!

Perfect location for reasonable price!
I've stayed here twice now, and have not been disappointed either time. It's the most perfect location if you desire to be where the action is! The hotel is clean, the staff is very friendly and accomodation, and the Rum House (piano bar) is fun! Also the Cafe Edison was very nice for breakfast! Will stay here next time, too!

Great location for a reasonable rate. Reasonable for NYC that is. Room/bathroom were clean. Don't expect anything fancy. Walls are thin, so you will know when your neighbor uses the bathroom, but NYC can be a noisy place anyway. I called before I left to confirm my reservation. The room type was wrong and they wouldn't change it because it was booked through a travel agent. I called GTA and it was resolved when I checked in. I would definitely stay there again.

"As good as the Marriott hotel for a quarter of the price!!!"
After ten days at the Marriott (only doors away) at a conference I expected staying at the Edison to be a let down. How could it compare when it was a quarter of the price? To be honest I purely chose it for the great location and the Art Deco lobby and becasue I was too scared to stay in a backpackers. Boy did I get a suprise- the place was excellent and didn't feel like a let down at all! The Edison definitely had the friendliest staff I encountered in my entire USA /Canada stay (we were there for 6 weeks and stayed at 16 places during that time ) - nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff I dealt with. Additionally all staff are a fountain of local knowledge. We got lots of great advice about where to shop, where to get cheap tickets etc etc. The bell boys in particular are an invaluable asset to the place. The rooms although small were clean and well kept. As 2 young females travelling together we had no issue with security and felt very safe at all times. I will definitely be back and have already booked for June 2007. For safe, clean, friendly accomodation right AT Times Square the Edison would be hard to beat.

"Great experience for the price!"
Booked through the hotel website and got a great room on the 12th floor. Was expecting twin beds and was pleasantly suprised by having 2 double beds. Also had small table with chairs and desk in room. Large walk-in closet. Bathroom was small but still able to dry off in bathroom. Staff was friendly. Cafe Edison in lobby is a great deal for breakfast and 24-hour deli a couple of doors done is perfect for late-night snack. Pub in lobby had piano singer Tues through Saturday. Bartender was very good. Hotel in great location. 1/2 block from Times Square. Close to subway stations and TKTS booth is out the back door (very convenient). Was very pleased especially after reading some of the more negative reviews. Will still there again!!!!
