Perfect business hotel
The perfect business hotel! I was really satisfied during my stay in London and it was all because of Custom House Hotel. The location of the hotel was superb because it was just a few steps away from the Excel Centre where I attended a convention. All I need is to just cross the street to get there which save me some time and money. The last time I was there made me spend more on my cab fare than my accommodation! The hotel’s rate was affordable but the room does not look cheap at all. The bright colors actually gave out a good vibe in the room. My room has all I need to work comfortably like high-speed internet and direct dial phone. Another bonus is a hi-tech interactive TV with HD movies! This 3-star hotel just can’t stop impressing me because it has three restaurants to choose from which really satisfied my cravings. My favorite was the Ho Lee Chinese Restaurant because I missed my mom’s home-cooking since she is Asian. The design of the Custom House Pub is really unique and I spent my days there working and getting cozy in the sofa sipping on a hot cappuccino.

Inconsistent customer treatment
We stayed at this Hotel with a small child. We were content about everything except: 1. Inconsistent service level in reception and handling customer inquiries and wishes depending on who's on call/working at the reception desk. (The girls were very nice and helpful) 2. Generally difficult to get online as the alternatives are unnecessarily complicated compared to those offered at many other hotels. Overall laudable and good value for your money albeit a bit far from city if you're with child!

Quite disappointed
We have stayed at a superior twin room for six nights. The hotel is conveniently located right across a DLR station which provides a convenient access to the city. Rooms are small but clean. If you only require a bed and a shower, the room will answer your needs. However, the staff was quite unhelpful and unprofessional. On the first day, we requested that the window will be unlocked since the room was too hot, the front desk man arrived quite quickly and fixed the problem for us. On the second day, a similar request was ignored, and after a second call to the reception desk, they responded that they have lost the key that unlocks the window, and suggested that we use the air-condition. Only then we discovered that the air-condition doesn't work. On a different occasion, we have dined in the hotel pub. Our order took more that 55 minutes to arrive, and even then, only after we have reminded the waiter we were still waiting. Two consecutive mornings of power blackouts didn't add much to our enthusiasm from the hotel. Moreover, it must be mentioned that some of the room amenities come with extra charge. The room safe costs two pounds a night, and the internet access charge is preposterous.

Fantastic food, good room!
Me and my partner stayed at Custom House Hotel for two nights on the 15th and 16th of Feb 2010. The room was superb, and the choice of films and television in the rooms were also a pleasant surprise. We dined in the Custom House pub on both nights, and the food was top class, I recommend the burger, steak and penne pasta. The portions are more than generous and the presentation of the food was superb. The staff, although all willing to help, seemed to be nearly all non-English, and on the odd occasion it was a slight problem with communication, but this did not deter any enjoyment out of the stay. I would recommend Custom House Hotel to anyone...if not only for the superb meals.

Excellent value
We stayed at this hotel sun 15 feb 2010 for 1 night. The room was lovely and clean, staff were helpful great for the Excel center and O2 Arena but not if you want to shop, unfortunatley the DLR wasn't running that day, but apart from that I would stay her again and recommend it to friends.

Excellent value hotel. Rooms are a bit small but it's very clean and well maintained. The bed is comfortable, hotel is quiet and all the facilities you would need are avaiable. I would highly recommend it.

Good value
I booked this hotel to attend an exhibition at ExCel and did not regret. The Custom House Hotel is situated in the London Docklands, close to the railway station. The room was small, but clean and basicly furnished, non-smoking rooms were available.

week-end stay at this hotel
We found this hotel to be clean tidy and offered a good choice of food. Only drawback we found was the room size, it was extremely small for two adults and a child. Price was good and if you are fit and well travel into london was ok

"Brilliant way to end a UK holiday."
Hotel was wonderful. More room than I had expected for 50 pound a night for the 3 of us. Clean. Quiet. Comfortable. Well worth booking into. Shame the Gym facilities located next door had just folded. Would have loved a sauna on the first night. Nevermind.

"Good, clean, cheap, friendly."
We had three nights in the Custom house prior to departing on our return journey to OZ. For the price it was remarkable value. Close to the Docklands Light railway, it is ideal for visiting the area, and London generally. The staff were more than helpful, the place was spotlessly clean, and the rooms, if small wer at least soundproof! The grub, in both the pub next door (good pint of "London Pride there) and the Chinese resturaunt, was both good, and good value. Those who have complained about this place either have delusions of what the price would get them elsewhere, or are total gits. Well worth the money, we'll definitely return.

"Great value and tidy rooms"
Upon arrival at the hotel I found secure and free parking at the rear of the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room overlooked a courtyard and was very quiet. The room had all the facilities that I required and was clean. The bathroom was on the small side but fully functional and tidy. The rail station was just opposite the hotel and it was easy to make connections into the city the next day. A great breakfast (full english) was served until 10am. It was only £50 for the night, great value!

"Good Value in Docklands"
Good budget option at around £40/night via the usual discount websites. Standard rooms (whether booked as a single, twin or triple) have a double bed with an additional single bunk above, whilst the Executive rooms have Twin or King beds, a better shower/bathroom and generally nicer fittings. A great deal if you're lucky enough - as I was on my second visit - to get an upgrade, but probably not worth paying the extra if you're on a tight budget, as the Standard rooms are perfectly adequate. All rooms are en-suite, medium-sized (by London standards) and very clean. The immediate area around the hotel is not very exciting, but Canary Wharf (10 mins) and Greenwich (about 20 mins) are easily accessible by DLR. Probably too far out of town (30 - 40 mins) for those who wish to be near central London, but this hotel is far better than similarly-priced central hotels. If the location suits you, this is a good medium-standard option.

"Fantastic Budget Hotel"
Whilst visiting the ExCel Exhibition centre, my wife and I needed somewhere close by to stay. The Custom House Hotel met our budget and we made a reservation. I am so glad we did. No this hotel wasn't the Ritz or the Savoy, but for the price we paid we had a safe, clean room with a comfy bed in which to sleep. We stayed in a Standard Room and the shower had plenty of pressure and was hot - lovely!!! The room had wireless internet access and a televison, with enough tea and coffe to see us through. All of the hotel staff were polite and very helpful. The 2 minute walk to the exhibition centre was very convenient, as was having Custom House station immediately opposite. The Victoria Pub next door was very comfortable with a brilliant atmosphere and it served food all evening. Breakfast - which we had included in our room price - was plentiul, hot and edible. To summarize the Custom House Hotel is a safe, clean, comfortable, budget hotel that we would definately stay at again.

"Excellent! Nice staff, clean and comfortable (affordable)"
We stayed at the hotel for the London New Years Celebrations, the hotel is adjacent to the Docklands Light Railway which runs very frequently, connecting passengers across London. The staff were nice and helpful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble!!! The parking was secure and easy to use at £10 per day. The receptionist is always by the phone and is always willing to help. Conclusively, the hotel is central, cheap but supportive to it's purpose. 9/10!

"Very Very Good Value"
I booked this hotel - and then I read the reviews - "oh my god" - there was extensive usage of phrases such as "tramps" and "yobs" roaming the streets, shocking service and sub standard rooms - I have to say I experienced none of the above, what must be considered when evaluating this hotel, is that it is located near a big Expo centre, which means the core of the hotel’s clients are business people for the centre, so the hotel offers a range of restaurants and cafes catering for a range of tastes, and the surrounding area is not that important, which I have to say “regents park it isn’t” – but for £50 I got a room with breakfast, air con, a large screen modern satellite enabled TV and the room was fresh and very clean. It is situated 2 minutes from the DLR and it took me 15 minutes to get to Bank station – my review was based on a three night stay in a superior room - overall think an above average Travelodge room
