"Very handy location"
This hotel is a pretty standard 2 star, we went because of a special offer through a travel agents but I don't think it made the accomodation much cheaper. Great location, about 2 minutes walk from Gare du Nord (where we came in on Eurostar, so easy transfer!) and Gare de l'Est is about 3 mins walk in the other direction, so virtually every metro line is easy to get to. Accommodation is basic, room is a comfortable size but the furniture was a bit tatty. Had a little fridge/minibar that was at sensible prices. Decor is fine, bedspread was a bit torn and the mattress sagged in the middle, bathroom fine. Very clean, TV only got one channel (in french!). Missed breakfast both days because it finished at 9.30. Quite cute hotel, not many rooms, on a lot of floors and a bit maze like, with the rooms quite funny shapes. Windows were v soundproof but the walls were like paper, so if your neighbours are noisy, no sleep. Very friendly staff, english speaking. I would go back again for a short cheap break! Its a good base for sightseeing because of the metro, and there are a lot of fairly cheap restaurants and some nice bars in the area by both stations (as well as sex shops etc, but the area still felt pretty safe when we were walking back at about 11.30).

"Good Value"
I have now stayed at the Aris Nord hotel twice and would happily stay there again. The room was fairly small, clean and fully functional both times. The bathroom although fairly small was also clean and had everything you would need and expect in a basic tourist hotel. The location is ideal if you are travelling by Eurostar as the hotel is about a five minute walk from Gare du Nord, which means you don't have to worry about taking your luggage on and off metros, or the expensive of a taxi. The hotel is more than happy for you to leave your cases when you check out of your room so again if travelling by Eurostar you won't have to worry about lugging your stuff around on your last day. Although the location of the hotel isn't the most picturesque you are really central to travel to all the main sights really quickly and easily - especially if you don't mind using public transport. I found the staff helpful and pleasant. If you are looking for a cheap hotel which offers you the basics but no frills approach, and are intending to spend your time sightseeing rather than wanting a luxurious holiday then I would happily recommend this hotel. The only problem we had when we last stayed was that the Minibar door hinge was slightly broken! The minibar prices though are really cheap!
