Location, Climate:
Whistler is a haven for all winter sports fans traveling to Canada. It is situated along the Coast Mountains in British Columbia. The climate in Whistler ranges from warm, dry summers to cool, wet winters. Brief History:
Whistler used to be a logging town named Alta Lake. The town was famous for its abundance in snow which made investors develop a ski resort at the Creekside area to attract many tourists who were planning to attend the Winter Olympics in 1968. The second ski resort was built near Blackcomb mountain around 1980. Whistler Village continued to progress when the two ski resorts merged.

Events, Landmarks, Activities:
One of the most attended events in Whistler is the TELUS Winter Classic which is held every month of January. This fund-raising event features a weekend of Mountain Top Gala, ski events, great food and wine/beer tasting. Aside from skiing, snowboarding, hiking and other outdoor activities in Whistler, there are also several indoor attractions in town that are worth visiting including the Whistler Museum, Whistler Village Art Gallery, Path Gallery and Scotia Creek Gallery.

Transportation:
There areas in Whistler that is best explored on foot such as the Upper Village and Whistler Village. Riding a bicycle is very popular during summer because of the paved bike lanes. There are buses in Whistler that operates from 5:30 am til 3 am.
