Brief History:
The first settlers in Vicenza were the Euganei tribe, which was followed by the Paleo-Veneti tribe during the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. The Romans and Paleo-Veneti tribe joined forces to defeat the Celtic tribes who occupied the northwest of Italy. The name of the city was taken from the word “Vicetia” or “Vincentia” which means “victorious”.

The most significant event in Vicenza is the Patron Saints Day Celebration which is held every September 8.
