Brief History:
British General James Oglethorpe together with his settlers arrived at the Yamacraw Bluff in 1733. Oglethorpe and his men were welcomed by Creek leader Tomochichi, Indian traders Mary and John Musgrove and the Yamacraw tribe. Savannah was officially founded during that year and was named the capital of Georgia in 1751.

If you are huge movie buff, then make sure to attend the Savannah Film Festival which is held usually in October or November. This film fest showcases more than 50 films chosen from over 600 entries in different categories from all around the globe. Savannah is famous for its beautiful cemeteries such as the Colonial Park Cemetery and Bonaventure Cemetery. Other must-see attractions in Savannah include the Mercer Williams House Museum, Telfair Museum and Forsyth Park. The best place to have fun, dine and shop are at the City Market, River Street and Tybee Island Beach.

Transportation:
The historic district of Savannah is easy to get around on foot. There are buses that travels all over the city and if you are lucky you can catch the free shuttle at the historic district or the free ferry that crosses the Savannah River.
