Brief History:
A fort was built in Quebec City by French navigator Jacques Cartier in 1535. He left the city a year after, but returned in 1541 to permanently reside in Quebec City. This settlement disappeared less than a year because of the hostile natives and cold winters. Another French explorer named Samuel de Champlain officially discovered Quebec City in 1608.

Must-see museums include the National Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of Civilization.

Transportation:
The Old Quebec is compact therefore walking is the best option when seeing that area. Ride the funicular to get from the upper to the lower parts of Old Quebec. To reach other destinations, you can take the bus or the express shuttle.
