Brief History:
There were only few villagers living in Mellieha before the British colonized the town. After the arrival of the British, they gave leases to the locals to encourage them to permanently settle in Mellieha. Two centuries ago, Mellieha was an abandoned town because of the fear of Saracen and privateer attacks.

One of the most attended events in Mellieha is the Carnival March which is held every month of February. If you happen to extend your stay in Mellieha for two months, you can catch the Last Supper Table Display in March and the Easter Musical Concert in April.
