Location, Climate:
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg or as it is more simply called; Luxembourg is a popular tourist destination in Western Europe and is bordered by Germany, France and Belgium. It has a maritime climate with warm summers and cool winters. The hottest months are July and August while the coldest months are January and February.
Brief History:
Its history started when Count Siegfried of Luxembourg acquired the Lucilinburhuc (which is now known as the Luxembourg Castle) in 963. A town slowly evolved from this fort and it expanded during the occupancy of the French and the Houses of Hohenzollern Bourbons and Habsburg.
Events, Landmarks, Activities:
The best time to go to Luxembourg is in June because not only is the weather warm, but the city also hosts two major events. National Day attracts thousands of participants annually and is held in celebration of the royal family while the International Music Festival showcases some of the country's best musicians and composers. Luxembourg has several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and most of these sites can be seen at the Old Town including the Gothic Revival Cathedral of Notre Dame and Grand Ducal Palace. There are also many world-class museums in Luxembourg such as the Luxembourg City History Museum, National Museum of History and Art and the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art.
Transportation:
Luxembourg is a compact city which has a good network of buses. To get the most out of your visit, it is best to walk between the main sights, this way you get the best views of the ramparts
