Location, Climate: Los Angeles is the largest and most populated city in the California. Also called the “City of Angels”, L.A. is surrounded by forests, valleys, desert, mountain ranges and the ocean. The weather in Los Angeles is basically sunny with moist Pacific winds and rain falls. The wettest month in Los Angeles is February so it is best to visit this city during summertime. Brief History: Felipe de Neve, who is a Spanish governor, discovered the city of Los Angeles in 1781. After the Mexican War of Independence, the city was taken over by Mexico, but it was later on given to the United States when the First American Intervention ended in 1848. The city officially became a municipality in 1850. Events, Landmarks, Activities: Los Angeles is home to many famous celebrities so if you are a big movie fan, visit the city in March for the annual Academy Awards held in Hollywood. Another popular event is the Rose Parade which is held every New Year's Day and features flower-covered floats, equestrians, marching bands and the much-awaited Rose Bowl football game.
