Location, Climate: Honolulu Oahu is a premiere tourist destination in Hawaii that is situated between the Koolau mountains and Pacific Ocean. The weather in Honolulu Oahu is warm and sunny with ocean breezes and rainfalls. The hottest months in the city is from May to October while the rainy season is from November to April. Brief History: The first settlers in Honolulu Oahu are the Polynesians who have stayed here for approximately 1,5000 years ago. They gave the name Honolulu which means “sheltered harbour” in Hawaii but the first foreign settlers who arrived in the city in 1794 called it Honolulu Harbor. This place became the residence of Kamehameha I making it the city's center for trade in 1845. Events, Landmarks, Activities: Honolulu Oahu is a multicultural city and celebrates various festivals each year but the biggest is the Honolulu Festival which is a 3 day-celebration in March filled with dance, music, art and parade. The city has five districts and the most touristic is Waikiki which is famous for its beaches and other fun attractions such as the Diamond Head Crater and the Kapiolani Park where one can find the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. Downtown Honolulu also has its own list of attractions such as the Hawaii State Art Museum, Aloha Tower, St. Andrew's Cathedral, Hawaii State Capitol and `Iolani Palace. Transportation: The best way to explore Honolulu Oahu is via bus since that is cheaper but if you are traveling by groups, it is best to take the taxi. Driving in the city is not advisable because of the heavy traffic.
