Location, Climate:
Havana is one of the most-visited cities in Cuba, not only because it is the capital city, but also because of the pleasant year round tropical climate. This historic city spans from the southward and westward of the Havana Harbour. Brief History:
The Spanish explorers discovered Havana during the 16th century. At that time the city served as a base for the Spanish Galleons who crossed the waters for trade between the Old World and the New World. The King of Spain, Philip II, officially announced Havana as a city in 1592.

The Old Havana was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are several historical attractions within the vicinity including the Morro Castle, Fort of Saint Charles, San Salvador de la Punta Fortress, and Castle of the Royal Force as well as the Cathedral of Havana. No trip to Havana can be complete without visiting the Havana Club Rum Factory to get a taste of this famous rum.
Transportation:
Since most attractions are located in a small area, it is best to explore them on foot. To travel around the city, Havana has a good road network and for a novel way to get around take a Coco taxi, so named because they look like a coconut!
