Location, Climate: Dublin is situated right in the heart of Ireland's Dublin region and at the opening of River Liffey. This place is quite huge but its center is small. The weather in Dublin is mild which makes it a pleasant place to visit anytime of the year but the best time is still summer when it is sunny and dry. Brief History: The first settlers in Dublin are the Vikings which showed traces as far as 841. The Danes took over Dublin during the 9th century, but was taken over by England's King Henry II in 1171. After the English Civil Wars, Oliver Cromwell reigned Dublin and became one of the greatest cities during the 17th century. Events, Landmarks, Activities: Millions of people travel to Dublin to celebrate one of its biggest events which is St. Patrick's Festival Parade held every month of March and features colorful costumes, dances, floats and beer. Since Dublin is known for its beer, then make sure to visit its top breweries including Old Jameson Distillery and Guinness Storehouse. Dublin boasts of its architectural masterpieces including the Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin Castle, General Post Office and the Custom House. There are also lots of world-class museums in Dublin such as the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin Writers Museum and Dublinia & the Viking World. Transportation: The city center can be easily explored by foot but the tram or train can be used for farther destinations. Taking a bus is also advisable since there are more than 200 bus routes in the city. Taxis in Dublin are cheaper and easy to get.
