Location, Climate: Chicago is the largest city in Illinois that is situated southwest of Lake Michigan. It is located in the Great Lakes region and consists of numerous districts. Jean Baptiste Point du Sable stayed near the Chicago River during the 1780s making him the founder and first permanent settler in Chicago. In 1837, Chicago was officially declared a city and serves as a major hub for telecommunications, industry and infrastructure. Events, Landmarks, Activities: Chicago is famous for its gastronomy that's why it hosts the largest food festival in the world called Taste of Chicago which runs for 10 days prior to 4th of July. This city is also known for its music fests including Lollapalooza, Chicago Jazz Festival and Chicago Blues Festival. There are lots of great things to see in Chicago and if you enjoy visiting museums, then check out Museum Campus where you can find the Field Museum of Natural History, Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum and John G. Shedd Aquarium. Another must-see museums are the Art Institute of Chicago and Museum of Science and Industry. Transportation: It is easy to explore Chicago because of its excellent public transportation system including the CTA buses and trains. Taxis here are also affordable and very accessible.
