Location, Climate: Bali is a huge island in Indonesia that is situated right in the middle of Java and Lombok. The Jave Sea is found on the northern part while the Indian Ocean is located on the southern part. Bali enjoys sunny days all year round with frequent and sudden rainfalls especially during months of October to March. Brief History: The history of Bali ranges from the pre-historic era to the modern culture. In 1597, the first Europeans arrived in the city and colonized the city until 1911. But the Japanese invaded the Dutch during World War II giving them total control of the city for more than 3 years. In 1945, Indonesia finally gained independence under the ruling of Sukarno. Events, Landmarks, Activities: The culture in Bali is so rich and its list of festivals relives its tradition including the Galungan Festival which gives honor to its ancestors by visiting the temples of their families and some even plant a decorated bamboo pole. There are 6 regions in Bali and the most-visited is the South Bali where one can find the world-famous Kuta Beach, the magnificent Tanah Lot Temple and Uluwatu Temple, and the Bali Bomb Memorial. Central Bali also has its own list of attractions such as the Elephant Cave, Lake Bratan Temple, Jati Luwih Rice Terrace and Museum of Fine Arts. Transportation: The most convenient way of exploring Bali is by renting a car with a driver since they already know the way. There are also lots of taxis in Bali and they are affordable too.
